After a long time of very little inspiration, I believe that there is some great records being made at the moment, a lot of them are reminiscent of old detroit techno, which is the style that first caught my attention a long time ago. I think it is a very healthy time for techno production, so buying records is getting easier again.

RÜTS DVD Trailer – meakusma 2009 from meakusma on Vimeo.

On vous en parlait un peu avant les vacances d’hiver, Meakusma, structure belge dédiée à l’organisation de soirées orientées techno/electronica originales et aventureuses, présente son premier DVD résultant des collaborations entre artistes musicaux expérimentés (Move D, Kate Simko, Roger23, Even Tuell…), newcomers (Vakula, Immer.Chic, Peter Van Hoesen…) et jeunes vidéastes / vjs de talents.

On y retrouve 23 clips-vidéo, ainsi que tous les morceaux disponibles en .wav, déjà sortis pour la plupart sur les 3 mini-compilations vinyles Rüts, ainsi que des inédits, comme ce superbe morceau de Benjamin Brunn intitulé 77. Une excellente initiative à découvrir absolument ! Je vous laisse jeter un œil sur la bande annonce…

2008 is over and it was time for me to podcast the tracks I liked and played the most during the year. From jazzy house to more techy groove, in no way we can say electronic music was dead. The idea was to sum up a longer gig in a 90 minutes podcast. A deep intro building slowly into peak time house before a kind of breathing (Way Out West – Spaceman), to then going up again on more uplifting sound. In a nutshell, don’t expect a standard boring 4/4 dj mix, life is about vibes and contrasts, so is music !

Historique. Pour son onzième anniversaire Automatik, la soirée du vendredi au Rex, avait mis les petits plats dans les grands pour nous offrir un concert exceptionnel avec ceux qui ont inventé la techno, là-bas, il y a presque 30 ans déjà, à Detroit. Derrière Model 500 se cache Juan Atkins “The Originator”, le créateur, celui par qui tout a démarré en 1981, accompagné sur scène d’un trio machiniste et synthétique, dont notamment l’une des figures incontournables du mouvement, légende vivante et symbole d’une techno engagée, militante, et matrice d’innombrables genres électroniques : le fondateur d’Underground Resistance, Mike Banks alias Mad Mike, à visage découvert.
